Nokia Refocus now available for all Lumia Windows Phones
Nokia Refocus is a great little app that I’m a huge fan of. While it’s more of a general crowd-pleaser app that you can really show off at parties and to your friends, Nokia Refocus was only available for PureView Lumia phones. Today, Nokia has released it for all Windows Phone 8 Lumias.
Incase you havent heard about it before, Nokia Refocus allows you to take a picture first, and later choose the object that you want in focus. Nokia uses “clever algorithms” to do this, and it works really well.
Requires the Lumia Amber software update. Nokia Refocus lets you take a photo first and choose what you want in focus later. It’s perfect when you’re shooting close-ups of your subject because it allows you to show depth in your photos, and then change focal point if you want. You can also add great effects like ‘All in Focus’ and ‘Color Pop’.
When you’re done, share your interactive Refocus photos via social media like Facebook, Twitter etc, as well as email and messaging – all you need is a SkyDrive account. The application first uploads your photos to SkyDrive and then creates a link that you can share with friends so they can play around and change the focus themselves.
You can share Refocus photos over Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection, so be sure to check your network operator’s data charges first.
To get the latest software updates for your phone, go to Settings > Phone Update. You can also find out more about the Lumia Amber software update online at nokia.com/lumia-update.
New in this version:
- Support for all Lumia WP8 devices
- Improved focus

Jens Eggert, Nokia’s Lead Program Manager for Refocus told Nokia’s blog:
“As we have seen with the great imaging apps like Nokia Camera before, lots of people have been asking for it and we responded. You spoke, we listened. Now anyone that owns a Lumia can enjoy the power and creativity of Nokia Refocus. It’s another great example of how the Lumia you own today, keeps getting better.”
Available to download right over at the Windows Phone Store at the link below.
