Apple upgrades the iPad mini with Retina Display & the 64-bit A7 processor
As was rumored for a long time now, Apple has announced the upgraded iPad Mini with Retina Display support while fitting in the new 64-bit A7 processor which also powers the iPhone 5S and the iPad Air.
Sporting a screen size of 7.9″ like the first generation iPad mini, Apple has managed to fit in 4 times as many pixels this time around by giving the new iPad mini a resolution of 2048×1536. To put that into perspective, it is the same resolution as that of the iPad Air, but on only a 7.9″ display with the mini. That should make the iPad mini one of the best displays in the market right now with a PPI of 326.
Like the iPad Air, the iPad mini with Retina Display also features the 5 MegaPixel iSight Camera and a FaceTime HD Front Facing camera.
The iPad mini with Retina Display will also be available in Silver or Space Grey color variants sometime late in Novemeber with the Wifi only model coming for a suggested retail price of $399 (US) for the 16GB model, $499 (US) for the 32GB model, $599 (US) for the 64GB model and $699 (US) for the 128GB model.
Custom Designed Smart Covers and Smart Cases will also be available for the iPad mini with RD at launch for the same price of $39 & $69 as with the iPad Air.
As always, India does not figure in the launch markets for the iPad mini with Retina Display.
