Apple announced its successor to the classic iPad in the form of the iPad Air today. With the iPad Air, Apple has made the iPad thinner by almost 20% of last years thickness while reducing its weight by almost 30%!
The iPad Air features the same 64 bit A7 processor along with the M7 motion coprocessor as the iPhone 5S does, along with a 5 MegaPixel iSight Camera and a FaceTime HD Front Facing camera, with support for 802.11n WiFi standard. The iPad Air’s battery should be good for about 10 hours of battery life according to Apple.
iPad Air will be available in Silver or Space Grey color variants from 1st November for a suggested retail price of $499 (US) for the 16GB model, $599 (US) for the 32GB model, $699 (US) for the 64GB model and $799 (US) for the 128GB model.
New custom designed Smart Covers and Smart Cases will also be available in various bright colors at launch for a price of $39 and $69 respectively.
Continuing Apple’s tradition of some special love towards India, Indians will have to wait a while longer to get the iPad Air as India does not figure in Apple’s list of countries for the November 1 launch of the iPad Air.
