Facebook’s new Android launcher, Facebook Home, has apparently passed 500,000 downloads from Google Play, just over a week since it’s launch on April 12th, and even less since it’s global rollout on April 16th.
Facebook Home continues to mainly attract negative reviews though, with an average rating of just 2.2, with 5,617 of the total 10,905 reviews being one-star ratings, but it seems there’s still many people who wanted to try it out. The milestone 500,000 downloads is a modest start for the social network which has a global user base of over one billion users, but since Facebook Home is limited to just a handful of Android devices at the time, it’s not really that much of a surprise at all.
By comparison, the main Facebook app on Android has seen around 500 million downloads. Unfortunately Google Play does not list exact data on individual app installs but according to a Google Cache, Facebook Home listed 100,000 to 500,000 installs on April 19th, which crossed to 500,000 to 1 million which is what is listed currently.
Have you managed to try out Facebook Home on your Android device yet? What did you think of it?
