Exclusive: First look at Nokia’s Smart Camera Lens for Lumia Windows Phone 8 PR 2.0

We already know that Nokia is bringing the “Double Tap to Wake” and a “Sleeping Screen-like Always On Clock” to their Windows Phone 8 Lumia devices with the PR 2.0 update, which you can see below.

From what we managed to gather from our source, the PR 2.0 Software Update is still a long way from completion and what they have right now is probably one of the first few builds of the update. So the list of new apps & features is small right now, but we’ll have more to share in the future.

Apart from the Double Tap to Wake and Always On Clock, here is another new app which should be available to the Lumia users with the upcoming update – Nokia Smart Camera Lens.

Currently, the lens is a very basic camera app, but we have been told that this Smart Camera Lens will provide options that allow the user to control shutter speed, manual white balance and other advanced camera options we have come to expect of Nokia. If the Creative Mode on the Nokia 808 PureView is anything to go by, this Smart Camera Lens could be the camera app photography lovers have been waiting for on Windows Phone.

Here are the screenshots of the Lens as it stands right now:

While we are unlikely to see the release of this software update anytime soon, it is still encouraging to see Nokia implementing features and innovations that initially appeared on the company’s own Symbian and MeeGo Harmattan platforms on their Windows Phone devices.
