You never know what might happen in the mobile scene and today’s surprise was frenemies Nokia and Apple joining forces to take on Samsung in the courtroom.
Earlier this week, Nokia filed a brief to support Apple in their lawsuit against Samsung, with Apple currently working on obtaining a permanent injunction against certain Samsung devices. Nokia is not directly involved with the case at all, but has still contributed to this Apple vs Samsung court battle. The injunction hit a roadblock when presiding judge Lucy Koh, ruled that the Cupertino company needed to establish a casual nexus between their patented feature and the demand for their phones. The brief Nokia submitted was sealed for court use only but the summary included by Nokia indicates that the company is worried that the ruling might cause a lot of damage to the patent protection landscape, in the United States and is hence supporting Apple.
