Ubuntu for tablets revealed, Preview for Nexus tablets coming this week

Canonical unveiled Ubuntu for tablets yesterday, giving us a look at the new tablet UI and stating that they’ll know off more of it at the MWC next week.

No mention of when we’ll see the software released but apparently a developer preview of Ubuntu for tablets will be released tomorrow for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets. The tablet UI is similar to Ubuntu for mobile and doesnt look anything like the desktop interface that was demoed on tablets last year. There’s no support for multiple user accounts, including guest accounts, some neat new multi-tasking features and you can even run apps designed for mobile phones on the side of the screen, while keeping a tablet app open on the other side. How awesome is that?

Pair your tablet with a keyboard and mouse, and then the desktop UI turns up, which should be good news for Ubuntu enthusiasts. We’ll be at MWC next week so we’ll try to get y’all a better look! For now, check out the videos embedded above and below.

“There’s no support for multiple user accounts”
    Maybe you mispelled “now”.
