In 2008, Nokia was voted the most trusted brand in India, and again in 2009 and 2010, for three years in a row before dropping down to 5th place in 2011. Then last year the Lumia marketing seems to have propelled them up to third place. Today comes news that Nokia has been once again voted the most trusted brand in India again.
This is great news for Nokia, who is facing tough competition in emerging markets from brands like Samsung and Sony. It’s also a little good for Microsoft because this might perhaps translate into high Windows Phone sales as well, which would strengthen their brand as well.
Nokia also does a lot of marketing in India, from reality tv shows, to recycling and green promotions in the subcontinent. Nokia’s Asha phones are also pretty popular here, mostly thanks to the fact that they are the only budget devices that actually survive over a year’s worth of usage, which no doubt has inspired confidence in their brand.

New Delhi, January 30, 2013 – Recognizing Nokia’s commitment to the Indian market, consumers have ranked Nokia as the Most Trusted Brand in India for the third consecutive year. The ranking is a part of the recently launched ‘Brand Trust Report 2013,’ an annual research-based report by Trust Research Advisory. The recognition highlights Nokia’s commitment to the Indian market and its continued focus on delivering consumer centric innovation.
The Trust Research Advisory’s ‘Most Trusted Brand’ survey identifies brands that have won that most special attribute – the consumer’s trust. The Brand Trust Report, India Study, 2013 is the third in its series and this year the report lists India’s 1100 Most Trusted Brands from 211 categories. It comprised comprehensive primary research based on 61 attributes called the Brand Trust Matrix, and was conducted among 2505 influencer-respondents from 16 cities across the country.
