Nokia Music + Announced: Premium Music Subscription Service [Starts at €3.99]

By now you’ve all hopefully heard of Nokia Music, the free service that comes with most Nokia phones (Lumia and Asha) which allows you to stream music free from Nokia’s Music library using Nokia Mix Radio, and download whatever tracks you want absolutely free as well.

Today Nokia announced Nokia Music+ which is a new optional premium service that you can sign up to, that gives you:

  1. High Quality Music [music quality will be eight times the existing quality and you can set rules to only download high quality when you’re on WiFi]
  2. Lyrics
  3. Unlimited Downloads (currently you’re limited to 4 playlists on Nokia Music, but Music+ removes this restriction)
  4. Unlimited skips in Mix Radio (currently you can only skip a song 6 times each hour/day)
  5. Desktop App (which will allow you to sync your music I guess? Doesnt currently work with the Windows Phone app for Windows 8 and Mac. Not sure if this is limited to just paid subscribers though)

All for about €3.99 a month, but prices very according to the region. Aka, it might be cheaper in India, hopefully. Nokia’s VP for Entertainment said:

[quote_simple]“People love Nokia Mix Radio – in fact, many people are amazed that we can offer it for free.

“It’s the only smartphone music service out there offering access to millions of songs out of the box without the need to sign up, sign in, or suffer adverts in between enjoying the music. When you add in the ability to skip songs and save playlists for offline uses like the tube, you have something unique.

“We spend a lot of time listening to how people use the service and have even managed to half the amount of skips per songs played, which is a combination of our systems and musicologists understanding and shaping Nokia Music around the users.

“Nokia Music is great for discovering new music, and we’ve found that there’s a core of users that want even more of it. This is how Nokia Music+ came about. By introducing features like infinite skips and unlimited downloads, we’re opening the doors for unlimited music discovery at only €3.99 per month.

“This is for people who care enough about music to pay something for more quality and choice, but don’t want to pay €9.99 monthly.”[/quote_simple]

Rolling out in the next few weeks. More info over at the Nokia Conversations post at the link below.

can someone tell me how can i use Nokia Music’s online service on my Lumia 920? I have the app but it doesn’t show any ‘Music Store’ sort of thing. Nor does it have any ‘Mix Radio’ or so. My phone was bought from UAE but my regional settings are set to India (English), still I am unable to get this service.
