Leaked display component implies Sony working on 6.44 inch 1080p smartphone

It looks like oversized smartphones are the new fad nowadays, with Samsung’s Galaxy Note leading the charge. A lot of other manufacturers have been considering the phablet scene, and it looks like Sony might be the next company to release one, according to a new display component posted to Chinese language forum, Digi-wo.

The component implies that Sony is working on a 6.44 inch smartphone, with a 1080p resolution screen. Now there’s always the chance this could be from a prototype, or just plain fake, or maybe Sony is indeed looking to get into the phablet scene.

The company just announced their new 2013 flagship phone, the Sony Xperia Z two weeks ago at CES. Seems like Mobile World Congress next month is going to be even more special for them, eh?
