Sony Xperia Z will get Android 4.2 ‘shortly after launch’
The Sony Xperia Z is the company’s first Android 4.1 Jelly Bean phone and will be launching sometime next month, but a lot of folks have been wondering when it would get the update to Android 4.2, which has lockscreen widgets, and Google’s Photosphere among various other new features.
Well apparently the 4.2 update for the Xperia Z is scheduled to arrive ‘shortly after launch’ but there’s no specific date as to when exactly. This info came right from Sony during a Q&A session the company had on twitter earlier today, where they stated:
[quote_simple]“Xperia Z launches on JB 4.1, but will receive 4.2 shortly after launch. As always, we’ll share more info on this over the coming weeks on the blog.”[/quote_simple]
So there you go. Sony has a reputation for being late with their Android updates, so hopefully this is a sign of things changing with the company. They still have (in our opinion) one of the best Android UI’s out there though. Here’s hoping they keep their promise, eh?
