For ages now, CyanogenMod has been a bloatware-free, open source solution to the stock ROMs that many manufacturers have their own skin/UI on top of Android. That’s mostly thanks to Steve Kondik and many contributors, who took the time at a Yelp-hosted Android meetup, to give a presentation on the core mission of CyanogenMod, and topics like Android’s supposed open-ness, US carriers, and more importantly, how CyanogenMod came about.
