If you’re in India and have been wanting to pick up the new iPad (or even the iPad 2 which has now become cheaper), you’ll be happy to know that the Apple tablet is now available in stores in the subcontinent.
I dropped by a neighboring “imagine” Store here in Delhi and noticed that there wasnt really much of a crowd at all around the new iPads. The store said they already sold a handful of them though, and that the 64 GB Wifi or Wifi+3G versions are not in stock currently. Boo.
This is the third phase of new iPad launches from Apple, that bring the iOS tablet to 46 countries in total:
Beginning on Friday, April 27, the new iPad will be available in Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa and Thailand.
The new iPad is also available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. Phew.
Prices in India for the new iPad are:
Wi-Fi: 16GB Rs 30,500, 32GB Rs 36,500, 64GB Rs 42,500.
Wi-Fi+4G: 16GB Rs 38,900, 32GB Rs 44,900, 64GB Rs 50,900
Prices for the iPad 2 now start at Rs 24,500 inc. VAT (INR 23,333 ex VAT) for the 16 GB Wi-Fi model and Rs 32,900 inc. VAT (INR 31,333 ex VAT) for the 16 GB Wi-Fi + 3G model.
