With the iPad 3 just around the corner, the rumor mill has been working overtime. In this latest one, a new picture from the WeiPhone forums shows a system-on-a-chip on a prototype logic board, having a previously-unheard-of “A5X” chip which includes a date code of “1146?, which would mean it was produced around November 14th-20th 2011.

If true, this could mean the iPad 3 will have an updated version of Apple’s A5 chipset instead of an all new Apple A6 chipset as previously rumored, or it could just mean this prototype was being tested on a variant of the A5 while work was still in progress on the Apple A6.
If Apple indeed sticks with the A5X for the iPad 3, it would mean they prefer the current dual-core architecture of the A5-powered iPad 2 instead of the quad core architecture previously rumored.
Truly I don't even think apple should release the iPad 3 as of now. I'm pretty happy how my iPad can deliver such exccelence and amazement it can produce. Surely for surfing the net, email and fun. But if apple wants to release a newer. Version of the current iPad I'm sure they know what they are doing in business wise. What I will like to see as a apple customer, Is a powerfull 8mpx rear cam and possibly a better high resolution had vid cam, add support for flash. Make iPad a 128gb version iPad.
