Proview International announced today that the Intermediate People’s Court in southern China’s Huizhou ruled that distributors should stop selling iPads in China

Proview claims to have ownership of the name ‘iPad’ in China and says Apple is violating their trademark. Apple’s spokeswoman, Carolyn Wu, told the Associated Press:
“We bought Proview’s worldwide rights to the iPad trademark in 10 different countries several years ago. Proview refuses to honor their agreement with Apple in China and a Hong Kong court has sided with Apple in this matter”
Basically the Chinese company is trying to prevent Apple from importing or exporting their popular tablet in China. About 45 iPads have been pulled from stores last week, but no word on how many stores this new ruling affects.
