Apple’s digital assistant for the iPhone 4S, Siri, apparently accounts for almost 25 percent of all search queries conducted through Wolfram Alpha’s computational knowledge engine.

According to a report by The New York Times:
Less than three years ago, Dr. Wolfram created a new kind of search engine, called Wolfram Alpha . Unlike Google or Microsoft’s Bing, Wolfram Alpha does not forage the Web. It culls its own painstakingly curated database to find answers. [...] the technology has come a long way, including delivering many answers for Siri, the question-answering personal assistant in the Apple iPhone 4S.
Wolfram Alpha, as you might already know, was originally made for math and science queries, but has expanded their functionality to cover more tasks like statistical data aggregation, unit conversion or even displaying local event times, which mas made it more useful for most consumers, such as in this case, ones with an iPhone 4S.
Apple sold over 37 million iPhones in their last quarter, with the iphone 4S being the most popular smartphone currently, so it’s no suprise that Apple’s igital assistant is the one sending all those searches.
