Samsung holding event on March 22nd, announcing 7mm thin Galaxy S III?

Samsung confirmed last month that they wouldnt be announcing the Galaxy S III at Mobile World Congress 2012 this month, but we now have a new date: March 22nd.

Apparently Samsung will be having a media event in France, with no mention of what will be announced. Rumors indicate the device will be launching ‘before summer’ featuring a 4.6 Inch 720p Super AMOLED Plus screen, 1.8Ghz dual core Exynos processor, 2GB RAM, 12 Megapixel Camera, all in a package that’s supposedly just 7mm (0.28 inches) thin.

How thin is that? Well, the SGS2 by comparison is 0.33 inches thick, and the iPhone 4S is 0.37 inches. If all those specs are true, that’s going to be one pretty tempting little smartphone, eh?
