Samsung – No Galaxy S III at Mobile World Congress, will be revealed before June

It’s February 1st today, and as such, everyone in the mobile realm is looking forward to Mobile World Congress at the end of this month. When almost every company out there showcases and announces their new devices for the year, at the show.

Folks hoping to see Samsung’s latest Galaxy S phone are going to be bummed out though, as the South Korean manufacturer just confirmed that they will not be announced the Galaxy S III at MWC:

“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. Samsung stays committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences for customers around the world.”

Samsung traditionally announces their Galaxy S devices in February at MWC, followed by a May release. If this is true, it could either mean Samsung wants to announce devices closer to shipping dates, or the Galaxy S II sequel just isnt ready.

Dang. What do you guys think? Should Samsung have shown off their new Galaxy S III at MWC knowing that it would only be released in May? Or would announcing it closer to a release date be better for all their fans?
