In an interview with Mobile Magazine, Phil Roberson from HTC UK said that the company would be reducing the number of devices they release this year, following a weak Q4 2011 that proved that flooding the market with Android variations might not be the most profitable idea. Well…. unless you’re Samsung.

Robertson also stated that HTC will take a ‘backseat’ in the tablet market but will not exit it completely, so we probably wont see them mimicking Samsung’s strategy of a tablet in every size:
“So 2012 is about giving our customers something special. We need to make sure we do not go so far down the line that we segment our products by launching lots of different SKUs.”
A good move, in my opinion. Especially if they include that kickass Beats Audio with all their 2012 devices.
