Microsoft so far, has kept their games and apps that are compatible with their Xbox 360?s Xbox LIVE! service, limited only to the Windows Phone 7 platform. Understandably.

However, Microsoft recently released their Xbox Live app on iOS, and one of their games, Kinectimals, on iOS as well, which came as a suprise to most folks in the mobile industry. Apparently both apps have done very well for Microsoft, and as a result the company is planning to release more Xbox Live compatible apps for iOS & also Android. This bit of info comes in from a Microsoft spokesperson speaking on Microsoft’s decision to develop for other mobile platforms:
While the Xbox Live experiences and games always work best on the Windows platform, we understand that some Xbox fans may be using other types of devices. To satisfy that need, we are working to extend a few of our Xbox experiences and titles to other platforms.
No word on when these Xbox Live compatible apps will start rolling out but no doubt it’s good news for iOS and Android users who also happen to have an Xbox. Though admittedly, this gives them one less reason to get a Windows Phone.
