Amazon was thinking about buying RIM, got turned down
Well there’s something I didnt see coming. Apparnetly Amazon was thinking about acquiring RIM this past summer.

According to Reuters, Amazon hired an investment bank to review the possibility of a merger, but didnt make a formal offer. It seems RIM turned them down before the talks could get serious, along with other offers as well. The board instead chose to stick with internal assets like BBM and possibly restructuring the company to turn things around.
