Now there’s a headline for ya. Nokia India threw an impromptu bash at the Ambience Mall, Gurgaon/Delhi-NCR yesterday, featuring popular Indian singers Vishal-Shekhar and Shruti Pathak.
We say Impromptu because we (and as far as we do, no press other than MTV India) did not know about it until Nokia India gave us a quick call about it, 2 hours before it happened.
The concert is the latest in a series of promotions Nokia India are doing in their marketing efforts to push their Lumia windows phones here in India. This follows Indian Tennis celebrity Sania Mirza handing out Lumia 800 devices to folks who pre-ordered it, at the retail store lumia launch on Thursday Night. Nokia India will also be having concerts in Mumbai (at the Bandra Fort) and Bangalore tonight, with media being taken on Helicopter rides in Bangalore as this post is being typed out. All in the name, of the ‘Amazing Everyday‘ campaign.
Additionally, as we reported before, Nokia India will be painting Indian Airline Jet Airways planes with the Lumia colors, along with Local buses, taxis and cars. They also paid everyone’s toll charges here in Delhi yesterday morning. Gotta admit, it’s a tad overkill, but with the holiday season here, I’m thinking they might sell quite a load of Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 phones in India.
