New photos have turned up, of a Sony Xperia phone without the Ericsson name on it.

As you might already know, the company has started the transition into one name, after Sony bought out Ericsson’s shares, and this might be the first phone released under the rebranding.

Rumored specs include a 1GHz dual core U8500 chipset from ST-Ericsson, 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM, a 4 inch qHD display, an 8 Megapixel Exmor R camera, running Android Gingerbread on launch and upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich later.
I have to say I’m quite happy Sony has taken over the brand. They make some darn fine lookin’ phones and are seriously competing to become one of the top Android players around.
