UnwiredView apparently got tipped by one of their sources, that there’s a Nokia N8 sequel in the works, that will feature Optical Zoom, a higher megapixel count but will still run Symbian.

The Optical Zoom N8 Sequel rumor has been going around for a while now, but it’s the first time anyone’s been able to get some specs on the upcoming smartphone. There’s a 3.5 Inch WVGA Clearblack display with Gorilla glass, 1Ghz cpu, 512MB of RAM, a higher unknown megapixel sensor, and apparently the Finnish Giant will be sticking with the Symbian OS instead of using Windows Phone.
Scheduled for a Q2 2012 released, with the announcement coming at Mobile World Congress in February. I gotta say, if Nokia’s planning another Symbian flagship they better get it out the door as soon as possible, because the interest in Windows Phone is growing rapidly ever since the Lumia range launched. It seems, Windows Phone doesnt yet allow as much access to tinker with the camera hardware as Symbian does, which might be the reason Nokia stuck with the OS.
The Nokia N8 is already the best camera phone in the world, so I cant wait to see what the sequel device would be like, if this turns out to be true. Then again, if I bought another Symbian device, it would really really bug me that I’m not on Windows Phone, which would definitely be the Mobile OS of 2012. More info at the source below.
Would you buy another Symbian smartphone if it had the best camera on the planet?
