Although things have been very busy on the Symbian^3 front with Symbian Anna having been released & Symbian Belle announced, Nokia has not forgotten Symbian 3.2 & 5.0.
They have already delivered the promised updates to Symbian 3.2 & 5.0 with the new Web Browser, Maps & updates to the platform for most of the devices, but the firmwares for Nokia 5800, 5530 & X6 have still been missing.
Recently, the original Nokia Conversations blog post announcing the updates has been edited to strike out the names of these three devices, prompting many users to note that the updates for these phones have been cancelled.
But things are not so, a Nokia Staff member at the official Support Boards has clarified that the updates have only been delayed -
As my PNs to various users got copied and pasted already above, I can only repeat what I’ve said there. The updates for 5800, 5530 and X6 are NOT cancelled but only delayed.
So that is it then, 5800, 5530 & X6 owners need to wait for the update to be available for them.

Last week we made some edits in the article published in June on the software updates for Symbian 5.0 and 3.2 devices. We have since then received questions about this topic from our readers, so we’d like to share some more information on the status of these updates. We’d like to confirm that the planned updates for Nokia X6, Nokia 5530 and Nokia 5800 are still to be released and we are currently working on getting the software ready to launch in some months.
As all three models are among our older devices, not all operators globally will test and approve the software update for these phones. This is the reason why we decided to remove the devices from the global posting. Availability of the software update for these phones will be determined at a local level.
