One thing that’s absolutely brilliant about the Nokia N900, is the amount of support it’s gotten from the community. Even though Nokia basically stopped bothering with it, it’s the Maemo community that has managed to make quite a lot of things possible on Nokia’s tablet-phone.

And today we got to know that a smart young fella named Blaizzen over on the Maemo Talk Forums who has managed to get Ovi Maps with Voice Guidance and Turn-By-Turn navigation working on the N900. Things are still a bit iffy though, for one thing the voice guidance voice doesnt sound too great. Offline navigation isnt quite there yet either. But everything else works great, POI’s and all, or atleast better than anything Nokia has done for the phone in that regard lately.
If you’re interested in trying this out on your Nokia N900, head on over to this Maemo Talk Thread to check out more details. If you’re going to download it, the updated file is located here.
