RIM has had issues providing the Government of India with lawful interception abilities of BlackBerry data, which they previously said was on track to provide a solution by the end of January.

BES uses a unique decryption key so that all messages sent through one are only decipherable at the server itself. RIM says it is “technologically infeasible” to tap into information at that level, and hence it is now upto the Indian Goverment to decide on whether or not to cease all Blackberry Services Nationwide. Since Blackberry’s growth in the country has proved its quite popular, something like that could be pretty bad for RIM.
Either way it looks like either RIM or the Indian Government will have to give out at some point.
