The Nokia E72 gets a Firmware update to version 052.005

Apparently, the Nokia E72 has gotten a firmware update to version 052.005 today. It’s previous firmware version was v051.018.

The E72 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.

Remember you can update using the E72’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your E72 on your windows PC.

If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though. So far it’s only been available for some EURO and Middle East product codes.

The Changelog (via AAS) includes:

• Changes in timezones
• Adobe Reader updated to version 2.5.202
• Default system start date changed (11/10/2010)
• Clock time font changed (update after a previous firmware, v51, made it appear smaller)
• Device Management fix
• Keypad Autolock fix (autolock now restricted to homescreen)

Here in North America the last firmware update I got is version 031.023. I don't know if it's my phone or Nokia just doesn't care about this market. I try to update using ovi suite, sw update and device manager and get "no updates available". I have an unlocked E72-2 NAM.
