Google Instant search coming to Android

Google the search engine giant has one upped it’s core ingredient, it’s search engine. Now with the aptly named Google Instant you get search results on the fly as you key in your query, without requiring you to hit the enter key.

The three core features of Google Instant, as laid out in Google’s blog post:

• Dynamic Results: Google dynamically displays relevant search results as you type so you can quickly interact and click through to the web content you need.
• Predictions: One of the key technologies in Google Instant is that we predict the rest of your query (in light gray text) before you finish typing. See what you need? Stop typing, look down and find what you’re looking for.
• Scroll to search: Scroll through predictions and see results instantly for each as you arrow down.

Google Instant will save 2-5 seconds on each desktop search query, according to VP of Search Marisa Mayer. That will become even more valuable once the feature makes it way to Android. Faster results and fewer demands on changing pages will be a significant advancement in mobile search.

Thanks to a tip from Neil Lund, we’ve confirmed that Google Instant works just dandy in the Android browser. The URL that confirmed Google Instant working on an Android phone now redirects to Google home page. This was a pleasant surprise and we are looking forward to more such announcements.
