The Nokia E72 gets a Firmware update to version 051.018

Apparently, the Nokia E72 has gotten a firmware update to version 051.018 today. It’s previous firmware version was v031.023.

The E72 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.

Remember you can update using the E72’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your E72 on your windows PC.

If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though. So far it’s only been available for some EURO and Middle East product codes.

• Menu layout changes, among other things:
  • Maps moved to Main menu from Applications – GPS folder
  • Help moved from Main menu to Applications folder
  • Main menu re-ordered
  • SW update moved from Phone folder to main level of Control panel folder.
  • Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Bloomberg moved from Internet folder to Applications folder
• No changes to vanilla memory cards
• Altogether 450+ errors are fixed.
