One of the things we liked about the Nokia C6, is that it has almost all of the software enhancements of the Nseries flagships, like the Widgetised Homescreen.
And now, thanks to PHNT.org, we can all enjoy those enhancements on older devices like the Nokia 5800 and 5530. No word on whether this is for the X6 and other Touch devices like the 5320 variants, etc, but no doubt that’s coming along.
More details and full instructions over on the PHNT Forum.
Here’s a video of a Nokia 5800 running the C6 firmware:
Gotta admit, it’s pretty darn cool that we can now finally have the Nseries Homescreen on the 5800 and 5530. It’s just too bad that we had to wait for people to do this, instead of Nokia themselves.

I doubt Nokia will do this OFW on the 5800XM. PNHT's CFW is working very well, with lots of advantages and noticeable performance improvements over the OFW 51.0.006. However, this type of improvement extends the life cycle of the ~2 year old 5800XM at least another year. In fact some may prefer the 5800's candybar form factor and fantastic speakers over the C6. This is not good for Nokia sales, so I would not expect an official release. Can't blame Nokia...it has supported the mature 5800 platform since day one, with 12 official firmware updates over the past ~24 months. They need to move on for the sake of sales.
I was hoping more for the Nseries Homescreen (atleast) to come to the 5800, XpressMusic and Xseries devices with a firmware update lol. That's nothing major, but it makes S60v5 a bit more intelligent.
