The Dell Streak is a 5-inch touchscreen with cellular capabilities. Which in our opinion, is just pretty freakkin cool.
What isnt too cool however, is that it’s shipping with Android 1.6. It could be so much better with Eclair or Froyo. Thankfully, in the video below, Dell said it will be upgrading the Streak to Froyo but hasnt stated a release date yet. They also go on to show off Dell’s custom UI with Android 2.1 which includes a revamped notification system and a different app launcher.
Froyo brings in a lot of updates like full Adobe Flash, improved JavaScript performance and overall speed, but Dell’s custom UI layer may be leading to an upgrade delay, as we’ve seen before with the Samsung Galaxy S and the TouchWiz UI.
Even without it, the Streak looks like a powerful enough beast, with its 5″ screen, built in GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, 512 MB of RAM, a 1 GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera (with a front facing one for video calls).
