What is “Ovi Browser”?

In our daily round of snooping around of the Internets,we found this new Twitter account by the handle “Ovi Browser“.

Normally this sort of thing might be a fake/unofficial account, but the fact that its being followed by the Ovi Daily App Twitter account suggests it might be official? Something new, coming soon perhaps?

What do you think is the new “Ovi Browser“? A new internet browser for Nokia devices? Any guesses? Or just a fake account?

Edit: Just found the url over at http://browser.ovi.com/

Edit 2: The Page at BetaLabs just went up at http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-browser

No password or permission to download it yet though.

Edit 3: The Ovi Browser was just officially released. Turns out it was an S40 browser.

Nice catch. There's been mention of a major update to the native browser. This may be the new branding for the browser, which makes sense if Nokia is trying to tie the browser in with the rest of their Ovi services. A beta version is supposedly to be release for the N8 sometime late this year, with a finalize version early next year. I'm guessing in time for Symbian^4. Just speculation though. Hopefully this will bring their browser up to html 5 standards like on iphone and android, along with other improvements that the current native s60 browser desperately needs.
