Considering the amount of times people have mistaken the Samsung Galaxy S we were holding for an iPhone 3GS, we figured we might as well put the two together side-by-side.
On with the pictures.
Okay, so admittedly, they do look a bit similar. Especially from the front view. The Galaxy S looks like a bigger brother, thanks to it’s 4″ Super AMOLED screen (at 480 x 800 pixels) versus the 3.5″ TFT screen on the iPhone 3GS (at 320 x 480 pixels).
The Galaxy is is quite a bit larger too, at 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm, compared to the 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm of the iPhone 3GS. It is however a bit slimmer,and lighter (Galaxy S is 119 g, iPhone 3GS is 135 g).
Both devices have a very plastic-y rear panel. The Galaxy S panel is removable though.
The iPhone 3GS has a 3.15 MP camera, while the Galaxy S has a 5 MP camera. Both lack a Flash unit.
Both devices have their 3.5mm Standard Audio Jacks here (The Galaxy S supports TV-Out through it). The iPhone also has it’s power/lock button here and it’s sim card slot. The Galaxy S has it’s microUSB port which has a sliding panel to close it off to dust.
On the left side the iPhone 3GS has it’s silent profile switch and volume rocker key. The Galaxy S also has it’s volume controls here, along with a small inlet for a lanyard cable.
The 3GS keeps it minimal with no controls here. The Galaxy S has it’s power/lock key here.
The Galaxy S has no ports here apart from a tiny mic hole, while the iPhone 3GS has it’s speaker and mic behind two small and recessed openings next to the dock connector.
