Thanks to AAS and SymbianWorld, we’ve come to know that the good ol’ Nokia 5530 XpressMusic got a firmware update recently, to v30.0.009. It’s previous version was v20.0.080.
The 5530 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.
Remember you can update using the 5530’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your 5530 on your windows PC.
If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though.
There’s no actual changelog out yet, but according to the post on AAS, updates include:
- Universal kinetic scrolling
- Web
- Upgraded to version 7.2.3
- Defaults to full screen
- Kinetic scrolling
- Music
- Cosmetic updates to icons
- New applications
- Ovi Sync
- Shazam
- RAM optimisation
- Comparing after cold starts, our 5530 had 2MB more free RAM with the v30 firmware.

my phone isn't updating the new update how can you please help ??
i'm trying to get this new v.30.0.009 update on my 5530, but I just can't get it updated, when I try doing it on my phone through SW updates under applications, I click on Phone Software then click Start Update, It'll just pop up the "Processing" msg then stops and doesn't go through, but when I try the other applications available from the list, it downloads immediately. I also tried doing it through my computer but I'm having problems too, It says there's no available updates yet for your device or something. I know there's an available update in our country co'z my friend got the update, and she never had any problems since she just received the update and accepted it. pls help...
i have a problem with my software 30.0... when it comes to messages the blinking cursor automatically move forward, backwards much worse delete your typed message.. what seems to be the problem with this bug?? help out pls..... but addition to the features when you slide down sa scroll bar during searching for music there is actually letters appearing on your screen
