The Nokia E72 gets a Firmware update to version 31.023

Apparently, the Nokia E72 has gotten a firmware update to version 031.023 today. It’s previous firmware version was v023.002.

The E72 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.

Remember you can update using the E72’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your E72 on your windows PC.

If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though.

The Changelog (via SymbianTalk) includes :

* WAPI support for China

    How about a fix for the general multiple keypress bug? If you type too fast and hit a key before the other thumb leaves the previous key, second key is not registered. This is a problem that occurs randomly with new handsets and sometimes appears after a FW update on a handset that was working properly before the update- N95 comes to mind. Nokia- please stop forgetting about this nusance, and if it's not fixed in this update- get off your ass and get it done already. Inexcusable to overlook something like this on a qwerty messaging device, especially when you've had to go back and correct it in the past- it's not a new issue.

    My E72 didn't find the software on OTA, but only on the NSU.
    Updating now. I'm literally having my fingers crossed to this one. I have had way to many issues with my E72...

    Installed via NSU-worked fine

    the phone seems to be more responsive, and less crashes.

    Startup free RAM still relatively low (~40mb)

    Music player now plays m4a (finally!) after a bug in older firmware

    Hi CJ, :s Man I've updated the NSU to v2.4.8 and it's not detecting my device anymore, how to resolve? Thanks.
