Change your Nokia N900?s Startup Video with BootScreen for Maemo 5

Remember when we posted about how you could change your Nokia N900′s Startup Video ?

Well now you can go it even faster/easier with the BootScreen app for the N900 that was released in the developer repository today. The app was made by Valério and allows you to change the Bootup video, just with a tap of the screen.

All you have to do is install BootScreen from the extras-devel repository in the N900 Application Manager, and select your video (make sure it’s named one word, and in a proper format).

More info over on MaemoCentral, along with a couple videos that you can use.

And just to show you how easy it is now, here’s a short video showing you how to use Bootscreen to change your Nokia N900′s startup video.

Did you manage to change your N900′s Startup video ? Found an awesome new video that totally ‘rawks‘ ? Let us know in the comments y’all !

I couldn't help but noticing you are still running the original N900 application menu, which has all the default applications + anything new installed in the same menu. How come you have not installed CATORISE. It drops your applications into related categories. A lot more efficient that the default menu.

Hey there Bowen ! I did install Catorise, but i figured for the sake of the review, I should just stick to the basic look/feel of the N900 lol. But if I owned one, that would be one of the first things i install !

Hi, I hoping someone can help as google has let me down.

BootScreen Manager cant see any avi on my device. I've downloaded 3 or 4 different ones now to try. There only one word names but it just can't locate them. I've saved them under Documents, file manger can find them and the play with out any issue

    Any ideas?

That's strange. Did you make sure your files are named with just one word ?

  • RoboticChipmonk

Yeah definately just the one word.

I did it the old fashioned way (x terminal) to replace the hands (and that worked fine) last night just to get it done but it would be nice to get this app working so I can chop n change at will.
