Oh darn did I say “Netbook” again ? Obviously I meant “Mini-Laptop“.
But seriously.
As I sit here in a random Costa Cafe Outlet in Delhi, listening to “My Humps” by the Black Eyed Peas being played in the background (their choice not mine, I swear!) I’ve noticed myself falling into a new Routine.
With the amount of Work I have with my job, and the fact that I’m also a “Blogger” (as the cool kids say), I honestly need to have quick and fast access to an Internet connection wherever I go.
But coming back to that Routine I talked about, I’ve found myself always ready to go to any random Coffee House in my limited free time, just because it means I can open up the Nokia Booklet 3G and finish up some work. Not to mention the fact that getting a good cuppa’ joe isnt a problem in that scenario.
And the Nokia Booklet 3G fits that aforementioned scenario very well. Why ?
Well it isnt just because it’s nice and tiny in it’s size and so portable. It’s certainly not just because it doesnt weigh much at all, and that the build quality is so good that it actually attracts attention.
It’s because the battery life on this thing is freakkin amazing. Seriously, isnt it annoying when you have to find an outlet in a Coffee house to plug your laptop in ? Not a problem with the Booklet 3G. Because that 12 Hour battery just doesnt need much charging (unless y’know, you use it for 12 hours on one charge. Then you’d need to charge it !). And even if you’d need to plug it in to an outlet, the Adaptor wire is pretty long, and wraps up nicely to avoid any messy tangled wires.
To add to that, the Booklet 3G comes with a MicroUSB-to-standard-Nokia-Pin Charging cable which means you can even use that great battery life to juice up your Nokia Mobile Device.
But that’s not the only thing that makes this little thing such a delight to use as a Coffee house ‘laptop’. It’s keyboard is really fun to type on. When I first got this thing to trial, I spent a couple minutes typing out random words just to ‘play’ with the keyboard. Each individual key has great Feedback.
If India had decent 3G pricing and was available on more networks, I bet I would have liked the Booket 3G even more. Luckily I have my plug-in USB Internet “thingy” (for lack of words), which keeps me going in the meanwhile. The Booklet 3G also has Wifi support incase your coffee house of choice has the luxury of free Wifi.
The Built-in GPS would have been useful if any programs really used it though (more on this coming up in a seperate post).
And altogether I’ve really found myself enjoying that fact that I can “work/blog” from anywhere, thanks to this sexy little ‘mini-laptop’. Not to mention the Nokia branding on the top of the lid sure attracts a lot of positive attention for you attention-seekers out there.
Sure, it could have used more ram. It’s not really great at having too many Tabs open in Firefox. Sure it would have had a better version of Windows 7 pre-installed (Starter Edition is SO annoying). But for the usual light blogging and Internet surfing, it’s pretty snazzy.
To sum it up when you consider the portability and the great battery life, for me, the Nokia booklet 3G really is the perfect Coffee House Netbo.. I mean …Mini-laptop.
WomWorld emailed me to ask for their Trial Unit back today. And the first thing I thought was “Frick, now what am I going to do during my Coffee house Routines ?“. Yeah that’s pretty much ended now, Thanks a lot WomWorld ! I’m all bummed out now !
What do you guys think ? Is there something even better in your opinion ? Let us know in the comments y’all !

Its not all that easy for me to integrate thoughts all over again even if my reply was dissolved barely couple of days before. :PIf I remember correctly last time I've said clearly that similar thoughts rung into my mind as narrated in other comments while I was reading the story.BUT ah would like to see if this comment holds before I go further with what I feel about said topic. ;-)
CJ, you can get the same experience, or arguably a better one, for less than half the price. Check out the Asus Eee 1000HE/1005HA. Both netbook's RAM can be upgraded to 2 gigs.Battery life is the same, the keyboard is GREAT, I can actually type faster than on the desktop's keyboard now, and sets you back by 16-19k.
I've developed the same routine and tbh I really enjoy it. But I am not using Nokia Booklet. I got something else few months ago. You don't need the simcard slot so the same Asus 1002ha would be as good. It lasts about 6 to 8 hours on one battery charging too (10.5 if you aren't really use it). It has even better specs (N280, 1.66 ghz), but you can 2 gb of ram if you would like too. You can get a new battery No HDMI though. Although it plays on Windows 7 every (720p 30fps video, mp4, mkv, divx/xvid whatever). I got the XP version and then got 7 Proffesional on dual boot. The price is about 400$ right now, but I am sure you could get one a lot cheaper. It's a great addition to my regular laptop that I can't bring everywhere with me, cause of it's size and battery life. Netbooks are awesome in that use cause you it won't burn itself if it's used in terrible conditions.
