Nokia India : “Planet Ke Rakhwaale”

Nokia India launched a new site called “Planet Ke Rakhwaale” today.

The Site is basically all about Nokia’s “We : Recycle” program and the various benefits to recycling your device.

Q:How does one become a Planet ke rakhwaale?
A:You can become a part of the Planet ke rakhwaale by dropping your old non-operational mobile phone for recycling at any of our Nokia Priority Dealers.
Q:What are green points?
A.When you drop off an old non-operational mobile phone for recycling at any of our Nokia Priority Dealers, you will be credited Green Points as a token of appreciation. These points act as your green credentials and help you win special green privileges.
Q:How can I gain more green points?
A.You will gain more Green Points as and when you perform more such green deeds. This means, the more green deeds you indulge in, the more Green Points you will have. Remember, every Green Point you accumulate is your contribution to a greener and cleaner tomorrow.
wheelie binQ:What does the crossed out wheelie bin symbol mean?
A:On all new electrical and electronic equipment, which includes mobiles, the crossed out wheelie bin symbol will be displayed to remind you not to throw the product into your bin at home.
Q:Why should I recycle my unwanted mobile?
A:Recycling mobile phones reduces the pressure on the Earth’s finite resources and prevents mobiles from simply going to landfill. Like most electronic goods, mobiles contain some materials which could escape and be harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.
Q:How do I recycle my unwanted mobile?
A:It’s simple: just hand over your old mobile phone at your local Nokia Priority shop, and they’ll send it for environmentally sound recycling.
Q:Is there a cost to recycling my unwanted mobile?
A:No. It’s completely free of charge.
Q:What happens to my unwanted mobile?
A:Your unwanted mobile will be recycled by Nokia. Your mobile will be sent for safe materials recycling (in accordance with ISO14001). So next time you’re thinking about upgrading your mobile, just take it to a Nokia Priority Dealer and do your bit to save the environment
Q:When should I recycle my mobile phone or battery?
A.Mobile phone handsets can be recycled when you no longer want them or if you are upgrading your phone and have no further use for the old one. All batteries have a finite life depending on use, design and quality. Your battery is ready to be recycled when it is dead, no longer charges effectively or talk time is significantly reduced. Accessories are also accepted under the program.
Q:What about refurbishment?
A.Nokia does not carry out refurbishment business as a company, or support any refurbishment carried out by refurbishment companies, at the moment. The reasons are that we have no control over the quality or safety of the phones that are resold after restoration. Furthermore, we would not like to see the third world a place where industrialised world dumps old technology. A more sustainable solution is to utilize the significant advances made in technology in the past decade, and offer products that are optimised for developing markets, where recycling infrastructure is often lacking. Simultaneously we are developing our take back procedures further also in developing markets.

The Website also has a couple “We : Recycle” Wallpapers and videos along with a “Green Point” system for becoming a “Planet Ke Rakhwaale” where you can earn points every time you recycle a Nokia Phone, which you can cash in for goodies.
