Nokia Shows Us a Peek at the New Symbian UI

Nokia and Symbian released their proposal for Orbit and Direct UI on the future Symbian^4 OS, earlier today.

As you can see from the released visuals, Nokia’s commitment to rectifying any UI issues in the current version of Symbian, by the time Symbian^4 comes out.

The visuals show a UI that’s better suited for a finger-controlled touch-device, with a navigation bar at the top, that has drop-down menus.

You’ll also notice that the battery and network signal bars at both in the upper left side of the screen instead of at either corner like they are on the current Symbian^1.

Now, granted we probably wont see Symbian^4 devices till next year, I think they’re shaping up to look pretty sweet. I do hope that they retain all the current functionality of the Symbian OS though. Not worth trading that in, for just a Pretty UI.

What do you think of the Symbian^4 UI Proposals ? Worth it ? Or should Nokia just stick to Maemo ? Let us know in the comments y’all !
