The Nokia N86 gets a Firmware update to version 21.006

I just checked my Nokia N86 and found that there’s a minor firmware update, to v21.006. Its previous Firmware was v20.115.

The N86 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.

Remember you can update using the N86’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your N86 on your windows PC.

If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though.

I couldnt really find much new in this update. There seem to be speed improvements here and there. Transitions between Landscape and Portrait seem to be faster (yet not fast enough imho). No doubt there are a couple bug fixes under the hood too.

Have you updated your N86 yet ? Do let us know in the comments y’all.

I have n86 too and in new firmware the effects when changing from portrait to landscape or vice versa, they working now. In the older update, when I installed it, the effects didn't work, but at least now they seem working...

New Versions should be launched through out the world for many people cannot or don't want to to any other mobile other than Nokia. If you do what I am saying, you will be able to capture the market well. I used Nokia 6230 in which there was no flash light but its night vision snap was fantastic. I also used Nokia 6800, in this voice dialing was best. When ever you are launching a new phone good features from the last one is deleted. Rather it should be more refined with added features should be launched.
    Bye.

One more thing, just dont launch unless it is properly tested because when any person tries updating the softwares he is curious to see the changes in his mobile phone. You have to be friendly user updates

I just updated my N86 (feb 15th 2010) and it completely chunked it. Buttons on the face do not respond and I can't get into the menus to try to change anything. Keypad works and I can make and recieve calls but that's it. Anyone else with same issues?
