Ovi Contacts gets an Update: Adds File Transfers & Improved Compression

Ovi Contacts just got a new update for S60 5th Ed and 3rd Ed FP2 devices. Apparently File Transfers and Improved Compression, are some of the features added in this update.

Ovi Contacts

Here’s a bit of the Blog Post from BetaLabs :

The updated client contains some new features like: file transfer and improved compression. File transfer obviously is a nice feature if you need to quickly beam up your newly taken photo to your friend and you don’t want to be restricted by the size of the photo (as in, you can transfer bigger files than before). And our new compression will save you a bit of costs in terms of battery consumption and data consumption. We’ve measured the data consumption to be about 60% less of what it was with the previous version.

We’ve also made some progress on the user experience improvements requested. You’ll notice that in the Contacts tab, there are now three quick buttons to see a friend’s profile (or your own), start a chat, and add friends.

You can download the update over at the Ovi Contacts Page on BetaLabs. They’re also looking for feedback, so remember to let them know what you think about it.

We just went through a pretty massive rebranding from ZOMGitsCJ to UnleashThePhones. You might see a couple broken links, or missing images or strangely sized videos. If you do, please let us know on Twitter or using the Contact Form.
