Nokia Music updates to “Ovi Player”

Apparently the Nokia Music PC application has become Nokia “Ovi Player“.

If you open up your Nokia Music application, or try to download Nokia Music from the Nokia Music Store, you’ll get a prompt to download the new Ovi Player Client.

Here’s what the Ovi Blog had to say :

ovi player

Ovi Player contains some new views to help you navigate and enjoy your music collection. The ‘recently added’ view is used by many people as a way of keeping track of their new music. This enhanced view shows your recently added music grouped by albums together with cover art. In addition, the introduction of a ‘filter column’ on the detailed view will also help you browse your music collection more easily.

We’ve also redesigned the player controls to be more compact and to offer a more responsive volume control and track position selector.

Ovi Player is compatible with all existing Nokia Music Stores. When viewing Nokia Music Store using Ovi Player, the ‘music queue’ is now retractable to allow the best possible browsing experience. The queue is retracted by default but can be exposed by hovering over a simple arrow control.

When getting new music, the download progress is now displayed in a consolidated ‘progress panel’ at the bottom of the application. This panel also lets you monitor your device music transfer status.

As well as containing numerous defect fixes and some performance enhancements, this is the first version of our application to fully support Windows 7.

I downloaded the Ovi Player upgrade and it actually seems to be okay. Its worth noting, the update worked fine with my Nokia Music Voucher Tracks (which are an exclusive Nokia Music Store India problem). Now if they could just get Smart Playlists, I’d be a happy man.

Download the update over at the Nokia Music Store y’all. And do let us know what you think !

Same app pretty much, although runs faster which is good - last one was a bit laggy for me. Glad they didn't change the thing too much don't need tons of features just need something that gets the music on my N97 nice n' easy.

Note

We just went through a pretty massive rebranding from ZOMGitsCJ to UnleashThePhones. You might see a couple broken links, or missing images or strangely sized videos. If you do, please let us know on Twitter or using the Contact Form.
