We’re a tiny bit late with this bit of news, but one of the main initial problems with the Nokia Ovi Store, was that once you downloaded an application or file, if you happened to have to delete that app, or format your device, there was no way to re-download that particular app, or list of apps that you previously downloaded and installed on your device.
Well not anymore. The crew over at AllAboutSymbian found out that you can now re-download any apps that you purchased or downloaded previously on the Ovi Store.
However, apparently this is not currently universal on all Nokia devices. It appears tat you require Ovi Store v1.05 (271) or newer of the app. AllAboutSymbian have confirmed that the Re-download process works on the Nokia N97, E55, N86, 5800 XpressMusic, and E75 so far.
At the moment it appears that this is sometimes limited to certain apps or certain handsets but a complete rollout seems possible. The content you download is linked to your Nokia account, so you can re-download these apps on your device, or a new device.
There havent been any official announcements by Nokia about this new change in the Ovi Store, but this is definitely a welcome change.
You can read more about it over on AllAboutSymbian’s post.
