Nokia updates Java Runtime 2.0 for S60
Nokia went ahead and updated their Java Runtime v2 for S60 devices. Apparently this update should make Java apps run smoother.

Here’s what the blog post over on Betalabs had to say :
Fixed in this update:
- Conversion will avoid situations where disk space might go below critical level
- MIDlets are converted to internal mass storage if possible
- MIDlet with large RMS can be started
- MIDlets can access memory card root folder
- Support all Nokia specific JAD attributes
Minor changes:
- Updates to eSWT widgets
- Minor changes to bluetooth
- Reduced the amount of debug logging, which should give minor performance improvement
Know issues:
- Phone may become slow or unresponsive if it runs out of disk space on C-drive.
Please ensure that C-drive will have at least 10MB of free disk space before installation. - SSL connection does not work in all phones
Nokia 5800 firmware version needs to be at least V21.0.017 - Backup and restore does not work for MIDlets on memory card
- Nokia specific globalindicators extension API is not supported
- Please re-boot your device after installing the new version of JRT
The problem with this update though is that its only available for the Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 (which already has its share of phone memory troubles without this 10mb install).
The only way to uninstall this, is to format your device, so think carefully before considering the update.
Personally, I dont really like Java apps at all anyway (exceptions include the Gmail app and Opera Mini 5), so I wouldnt really advice you to update.
But hey, if you must, you can get the update over on the Java Runtime page on Betalabs.
