Shazam is a neat little Track ID application that’s usually one of the first things I install on my new devices.
The Shazam application lets you use your device to identify any music currently playing in the background, so that you can find out the name of the track or artist. You know, so you can order the song or “find” it later so that you can listen to it again and again and again.
I cant tell you the amount of times I’ve used it in a club or party because I heard this sweet song playing that I wanted to check out later.
Now while this application used to be freeware, it appeared on the Ovi Store a while ago for a nominal fee (about 5 Euros). Surprisingly I was checking around to see whats new in the Ovi Store earlier today, and found out that Shazam is having a promotion on the Ovi Store where you can use it completely free until November 30th this year.
Lovin ’ that tune? Create music moments: discover and buy music. Get Shazam on a free* to use basis until Nov.30. 2009. This promo is on a limited, first come first served basis, so get Shazam now to discover music for free.. At the end of the promo, to continue using Shazam you can download a new app and use Shazam Lite** with limited features and tagging for free; or pay once for unlimited tagging and full features.
Not a bad deal eh ? For an application like this. To find and make use of this promotion, startup the Ovi Store on your device and Search for “Shazam“.
The only mildly annoying thing about this version of shazam is that it installs a whole theme on your device (or atleast the N97 in my case).
