Nokia Java Runtime 2.0 for S60 V5

The guys over at Nokia Beta Labs have launched the new next-gen Java Runtime for S60 5th Edition devices. Assumingly this will be included in future device firmware updates.

The update is a 4 MB installation that modifies any already-installed Java MIDlets to work properly with the new runtime version.

It gives you several usability and performance improvements, including:

* One-click application installation
* Improved application launch user experience
* Improved execution performance

These improvements will make it much more fun for you to enjoy the thousands of games and apps available in Ovi Store and elsewhere.

You can download the update for your S60 V5 device (like the Nokia 5800 or N97) from the Java Runtime V2 page on BetaLabs.

I personally havent tried it yet on my N97. Whoever is the genius that decided to put 32GB on the thing, but give it such low freakkin phone memory, should be fired. The Java runtime installs directly to phone memory, and hence takes a significant chunk of that phone memory. I’ll just wait till it’s included in a firmware update so it installs directly to the N97 ROM thank you.
