Nokia N79 gets a Firmware update to v30.011

   So this is supposed to include Ovi Contacts? Any idea if the Standby plugin is included?

   I guess Nokia is really working hard these past few days on integrating all the features of their Ovi service to their products especially to their Nseries devices. That is really good! Anyway, do you know if the Nokia N85 is also going to receive this update? It's because I have an N85, and I have observed that whenever Nokia releases a firmware update for the N79, the N85 also has it automatically, but this time it seems that it is only the N79 which is eligible for this update and no word on the N85. I've been searching all over the web about this, but I haven't seen even a single screenshot showing the changes that this update brings, unlike in the previous firmware (version 20.175). I just want to ask if this update changes the current icon pack of the N79 to Ovi icons? It's the trend among the latest Nokia devices right now, and it would be great if they implement that in this latest firmware. Thanks!

   Hey there ! usually, yeah the N79 and N85 gets updates together, but there's no word on a firmware update for the N85 yet. We'll keep you posted if anything turns up though :)
   The firmware update doesnt change any of the Icons on the N79 though apparently there's Ovi Contacts built in now. I dont have an N79 myself, so I cant check it out unfortch.

   The new firmware can't be downloaded. My mobile says that there are not available updates and it has the 20.175 version. The NSU says that the last version is 20.175. It seems that 30.011 doesn't exist yet.

   To Mikel, from what country are you from? Do you have an APAC variant N79? It's because I believe that the latest firmware for the N79 (ver. 30.011) was initially released for APAC variants as of the moment. Maybe its case was like that of the ver. 20.175 firmware wherein N79 and N85 APAC users (like me) had the privilege of immediately updating their handsets OTA upon its release, while those in other countries who have the NAM and Euro counterparts can't, even until now. I guess the firmware's release will be on a per region basis. Maybe for now, the latest firmware is not yet available in your region.

   the icons hv changed...and there is a newer version of the video centre and a etter display for the download application.....
   the phone has becum faster and there r lesser problems in browsing than before, no hanging anymore. the software is getting closer n closer to b perfect.

   i was facing same problem but kept trying and fortunately i succedded so just keep trying but firmware 30. is not so good imfact old version is much fast and moreover i am having problem with keypad features also.

   hi... i had some problem with n79 so i gave to nokia care.. for repair.. they told that they are going to format mobile and install.. new software...so after formating will all my default data of mobile will erase or not....pls reply

    Hey there Darshan. Unfortunately yes, a format will erase all data on your device. You can backup your contacts and messages, etc using Nokia Pc Suite though
