I got a chance to play around with the new Nokia N86 a couple days ago. Because the firmware was still “in prototype stage” I wasnt allowed to take pictures of the actual device (or talk much about it, to be honest). Luckily they had a dummy model nearby, which looked exactly like the real thing.

Perfect chance for a couple Size Comparison Pictures, yes ?
Here are a couple size comparison pictures of the Nokia N86 and the Nokia E75.
Front View :
As you can see the Nokia E75 and Nokia N86 are almost the same width as each other. The N86 is shorter than the E75 though.
The front view is where you see how different the two devices are, yet have some similarities. Both devices have a nice Metal lining around the exterior of the form factor.
Both devices run S60 v3 FP2. They both have their left & right selection keys, Red and Green Calling keys, and Dpad on the front. The N86 also has a new slanted Menu button. The E75 has its shortcut keys, in addition to its Alphanumeric keypad.
Slider Open :
The N86 slides out it’s alphanumeric keypad while the E75 has a gorgeous slide out Qwerty keyboard that makes typing on the device a pleasure.
Dual-Slider Open :
The N86 has a dual slider mechanism, that slides out to reveal 4 multimedia keys that act as controls for the music player, or N-Gage games.
With the Dual Slider out, the N86 is a bit taller than the E75.
Back View :
While the E75 has a 3.2 Mp standard Nokia Lens at the back with a Single LED Flash, the N86 is the first Nokia with an 8 MP camera with Carl Zeiss Lens and a “Third Generation” Dual LED Flash & sliding lens cover.
Left View :
The E75 has it’s MicroUSB and MicroSD slots here, both covered with a rubber flap. Thankfully, you can also use the MicroUSB port to charge the E75 via a compatible cable connected to your PC.
The N86 has it’s sliding keypad lock switch here. It’s MicroSD slot is under the battery compartment though.
Top View :
Both the N86 and the E75 have a standard 3.5mm Audio Jack at the top.
The N86 also has it’s power key and microUSB slot here.
Right View :
Both devices have their dedicated Camera Buttons here, along with a Zoom in/out (aka Volume Increase/Decrease) Key.
The E75 also has a mute key between the zoom in/out keys.
The N86 has its stereo speakers on either side here.
Bottom View :
The Nokia E75 has it’s charging port and mic port here. It’s worth mentioning that you can also charge via the USB port, using the compatible cable provided in the retail box.
The N86 has it’s mic port here.

I am torn between the N86 and the N97. I had a N95 and recently got a 5800, but not sur if I like the touch screen, which is my dilemma when coming to the N97. The N86 is very similar to the N95 so what to do. The E75 is the phone for my wife, and it too I could get use too.
I think many people are torn between the N97 and N86. I havent decided on which one either ! I'm hoping I can get an N86 to trial, so that I know whether it's worth it or not.
