Introducing the Nokia BH-905 : Noise Cancelling Stereo Bluetooth Headset

Late yesterday, Nokia announced the new Nokia BH-905 Stereo Bluetooth Headset. In what they’re describing as their “Flagship Headphone Accessory“, this thing has a huge list of features.

The BH-905 allows you to connect to “virtually any compatible phone or music device”, because it can be used wirelessly using Bluetooth, or with a 3.5mm wired connection (and comes with adaptors for 2.5mm, 6.5mm and airplane connectors in the box). The headset also rocks active noise cancellation from Wolfson Microelectronics (with a switch to turn it on/off), with ten microphones; One to capture voice and speech, one to eliminate ambient noise for the listener and the remaining eight for capturing sound for the active noise cancellation functionality.

The headset has a traditional ‘Over-the head’ form factor with music, volume and calling controls on the two ear pieces.

Here are some of the key specs of the headset (via AAS) :

• Focus on your music or calls with active noise cancellation technology and superior audio quality with advanced digital signal processing (DSP).
• Operating keys: multifunction key for power on/off, answer/end, voice dial, and redial, volume up, volume down, play/pause, next track, previous track, and active noise cancelling on/off.
• 3.5 mm Nokia AV connector with supporting adapters for: 2.5 mm Nokia AV connector, standard 3.5 mm jack, standard 6.3 mm jack, and standard airplane jack.
• Stereo Bluetooth support with A2DP and AVRCP profiles. 10 metre range.
• Speaker impedance: 32 ohm
• Speaker drivers: 32 mm high performance drivers
• Number of noise cancelling microphones: 8; and 2 additional microphones capturing speech and advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for clear communication.
• Active noise cancellation technology: Reduces up to 99% background noise
• 180 mm x 155 mm x 59 mm dimensions and 175g in weight.
